Allez Les Bleus
After the French World Cup win, I have decided to spotlight two ligue 1 players who I believe are undervalued from a PB perspective and could return a decent ROI next year. One of the benefits of Ligue 1 is that they have Friday matchdays which is a quiet day for fixtures creating the further potential for PB wins (although usually a single match day).
The Rennes CM is my pick of the bunch from the Ligue 1 next season. Although he only won one double PB dividend last year, he was unlucky to not win more considering some of his monthly PB averages (267,173, 156). He is 27 so the next few years are his prime and will be looking to having a similar season to last. With Europa League this season, there are even more opportunities for him to win PB. Granted Rennes wont set the world alight next season however, that’s not to say they cant win a few PB’s here and there. The main competitor for PB at Rennes is Benjamin Bourigeaud (currently valued at 1.47 and returned 12p in dividends last year). Whilst Bourigeaud has a slightly higher average PB than Andre, the latter has the higher peak PB score of the two, so there is a very good chance that his price rises close to his teammates. Also one win on a triple day for example and Andre could return 12% of his value in one swoop, that’s discounting the possibility of star man. He is also the top-rated player at Rennes according to whoscored.com who provides FI with their stats.
From someone who looked to have little to no career left after his departure from Arsenal, he took the French league by storm last season and in the 6 months he has returned 28p in dividends. I also think he won St. Etienne’s best player last season which is a great achievement considering he only played there for half of the season. Although 32 I believe he has 1 or 2 years left in him and could be a regular PB winner next season if last season is anything to go by. I think if you were to buy it would be a one year hold although you could make a large percentage of his value back in dividends.
